The Sources research thrust focuses on the development of solid state light source technology that can translate to system level performance to provide low cost, energy efficient, healthy lighting systems. The ERC’s exploration of LEDs and phosphor fundamentals address parameters such as polarization, wavelength, intensity, light generation, and absorption in the development of progressive source concepts and technologies for solid state lighting applications. Optoelectronic integration research addresses the high speed and high efficiency power requirements for integrating LEDs in smart lighting systems.
