The LESA Center is pleased to welcome visiting scholar Dr. Jurga Miliauskiene. Miliauskiene is the Chief Researcher at the Institute of Horticulture at the Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry. She is joining the Plant Science team for two months working alongside Sr. Plant Scientist Elsebeth Kolmos. Miliauskiene’s doctoral dissertation is titled: “Complex effect of Climate and Anthropogenic Factors on the Photosynthesis System of Edible Radish (Raphanus sativus L.)”. Her main research areas include physiology research on plant productivity, ecology, ecophysiology, photophysiology, physiology of stress [on plants], and phytochemistry. Many of her research results are published in
high-level international scientific journals, 33 of which were published in Clarivate Analytics Web of Science database, and she has more than 50 scientific articles in other Lithuanian and foreign publications reviewed in other scholarly scientific periodicals. Her research results have been presented at 12 international conferences in India, the Netherlands, Portugal, U.S., Czech Republic, P.R. China, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, and Turkey. She also underwent traineeships in Poland and Denmark. She is currently participating in six projects funded by Research Council of Lithuania as well as three funded by the Lithuanian State Science and Studies Foundation. In 2016 she was awarded the Lithuanian Academy of Science prize for the best works of young scientists and doctoral students. Miliauskiene is also member of the Society of the Lithuanian Plant Physiology.
